The Legal Services team sits within the University Secretary's Office and reports to the Chief Operating Officer. The University Secretary's Office also includes Governance Services and Records Management and Archives.
In accordance with relevant laws, internal legislation and/or policies, the Senior Legal Counsel will provide timely and effective legal advice to key University staff. This position will require the occupant to work outside of regular office hours during busy periods.

Skills and Experience
Admitted as a legal practitioner of the Supreme Court of WA and holding a current practising certificate.
A minimum of 5+ years’ post admission experience involving negotiating/drafting contracts and commercial documentation, ideally relating to one or more of higher education activities, research funding, intellectual property and commercialisation, commercial leasing, real property law, procurement and construction, employment law, administrative law and dispute resolution.
Generalist knowledge of laws relating to commercial dealings.
Strong communication skills (both written and verbal) with a commitment to the use of 'plain' English, with attention to detail and accuracy.
A commitment to involving clients in the legal process through regular communication and present complex ideas in an easy to understand manner.
