H0404 | $59K p.a. plus 17% superannuation contributions
The Animal Hospital At Murdoch University is the teaching hospital within Murdoch University School of Veterinary and Life Sciences. We aim to provide a responsive, comprehensive, referral service to Western Australian veterinarians, their clients and their patients. We also provide high professional and clinical standards, based on available scientific evidence, which are tempered with genuine care and compassion.
The Animal Hospital now have an opportunity for a proficient and motivated Veterinary Nurse to join the team. The key purpose of the role is to provide high quality veterinary nursing care to animals, assist clinicians with examinations, treatments and surgeries as well as triage patients by phone or on arrival. The Veterinary Nurse will also work closely with stakeholders to improve services, as well as demonstrate to, instruct and supervise veterinary students. The key responsibilities of this role will be predominantly within the Small Animal Surgery department.
Skills and Experience
The successful candidate will possess the following:
Completion of a relevant Veterinary Nursing Diploma or Certificate IV level qualification registrable in WA;
A minimum of 5 years’ experience working in a veterinary practice, post qualification;
Previous experience in a veterinary surgical environment;
Demonstrated confidence and skill when handling and restraining small animals;
Excellent knowledge of diagnostic and surgical equipment as well as sterilising and aseptic techniques;
Experience and knowledge in the use and care of specialised surgical equipment.
